Well, this is not the blog post I had planned to write this month! Thanks for reading, amidst the endless covid-19 related content inevitably already in your browser tabs. Nothing crazy to say here, just information about how Moniker Press will be moving forward during this strange time of uncertainty.

Originally, I had planned to announce our much-anticipated workshop series this week, however, given the current circumstances, I will be postponing the launch until it is safe to gather in groups again. What’s planned so far, are three different levels of riso workshops; Riso 101: Beginner Basics, Riso 102: Digital Files for 2-colour Layering, and Riso 103: Advanced Photo Separation. The monthly workshops will have a limit of 4-8 people, will be scheduled on different days and times, with advance sign up. More information to come. In the meantime, do let me know if there’s something else you want to learn about in workshop form!

As some of you know, Moniker Press was going to be closed for part of April while I was travelling. It probably goes without saying that the trip has been cancelled, which means I will have plenty of time available in April for print orders!  Moniker Press will no doubt be impacted by the cancellation of various book fairs in the next couple months, just as the artists and organizations who we print for will be. As a community, I’m sure we will all aim to support each other during this time—and not just monetarily. Moniker Press will be here to aid in ways that I can, especially for those who need to make/sell prints in order to alleviate some of the financial stress in the coming months. ♡ Speaking of connecting as a community, Is Press has set up a virtual zine fair called Quaranzine to make up for the cancellation of the Denver Small Press Fest. Anyone is welcome to participate on April 4 and 5 using the hashtag: #quaranzinefest…so “see” you there!

For those who find themselves being productive, the printers (and I) are ready to make your riso dreams come true! Scroll onward for information on current Moniker Press operations and how we will continue to roll with the punches…

stay well friends.
sincerely self-isolating,

Erica

As of March 16, 2020, Moniker Press will be operating as follows:

PRINT SHOP SERVICES ✔️
> Since the studio can accommodate social-distancing and sanitation protocol, we currently are still able to offer risograph printing and any other production services that require being there. However, in the interest of having minimal contact we will mostly opt to work from home, with only one or two printing days a week, as necessary. During this time we can still ship anywhere or potentially deliver lightweight orders to doorsteps in Metro Vancouver. All transportation to-and-from will be solo, on two legs or two wheels! 🏍🚲

ESTIMATES ✔️
> send us your project specs! Happy to write estimates for any deadline through email consultations. While we won’t be doing studio visits right now, we can do our best to recommend paper choices for your project. Check out the Print Log for examples of projects we’ve printed!

WORKSHOPS / EVENTS
> All workshops, launches, open studios, studio visits and volunteer program will be postponed until further notice :( stay tuned.

DESIGN / CONSULTATION ✔️
> Yes! Yay to anything digital! All meetings and consultations have transitioned to either phone or video calls for the time being.

Please keep in mind there may be delays and we may have to adapt our operations as things unfold!

2018 was quite the year! Our best-nine mostly seems to highlight activities of recent months including: several projects, yellow ink!, book fair tabling (including the Vancouver Art Book Fair in October) and moving into the new studio / production space and the launch party weekend! but we also printed and published quite a few books which we will post about soon 👽The new space was is result of several months of hard work and we are so excited to start 2019 with a full set up ✨ ready for riso workshops, a publishing residency, new print services and programming! ✨ 🌵However, to start 2019 off inspired we will be taking a little hiatus from the space from January 12 to February 17 for rrreplica in Mexico City, and to visit, work and collaborate with our friends from RRDKevin M Rowe and others!

If you need printing services before Feb 17, please email us this week! We have a limited printing capacity between Jan 3 and Jan 11th. 😎

HAPPY 2019! Lots of exciting riso things to come. keep tuned. 🎉
