ABOUT MONIKER PRESS

Born and raised in amiskwaciy-wâskahikan, Treaty 6 territory (so-called Edmonton, Alberta), Erica Wilk (any) relocated to Vancouver to pursue her BFA at Emily Carr University (2011). At the studio they work in many mediums, from collage and bookmaking to video. Her first book project under the Moniker Press name was the Duality Experiment. Since then, Moniker Press has evolved from a small personal project to a solo-operated risograph print shop and publishing studio, which they use as a platform for collaboration and experimentation within her art practice.
Erica’s recent personal projects include tending, Cross Sea Hum 2nd Ed (Shortlisted for ‘Best Art Zine’ in the 2021 Broken Pencil Zine Awards), plants at night photo zine, as well as The Garden Pt 1 and 2, reading room installations for Vancouver Art Book Fair and Toronto Art Book Fair.
Moniker Press is a solo-run studio, with Erica serving as the primary owner, operator, printer, and publisher. However, MP’s success and continued existence is deeply reliant on the invaluable contributions of numerous volunteers, collaborators, and supportive friends. Moniker Press is immensely grateful for the contributions and assistance provided by these individuals, whose involvement has been crucial to MP’s journey. To work with Erica on a print, book or design project email them at MonikerPressStudio@gmail.com.

Mobile Moniker is an ongoing travelling print project by Erica Wilk. Spring 2016, Moniker Press closed the studio for a six week adventure through Europe. The challenge: to experiment and collaborate with fellow riso printmakers while in transit (sending creations to subscribers via snail mail.) Since then the project has continued in Mexico City (for Rrreplica) and Eastern Canada. Mobile Moniker will eventually become a browseable archive as well as a book project.
